素材はコットン100%のヘビーウェイト天竺生地(ノンウォッシュ仕上げ)です。
新品の状態では糸本来の風合いが残った目の粗いスラブ感のある柔らかい生地です。
洗濯で水を通し乾燥させることで目が詰まり、しっかりとしたコシとハリが生まれ、主に縦方向に若干の縮みが発生します。
また、着用と洗濯を繰り返すことで、さらに生地が馴染みコットン特有の風合いが生まれてきます。
しっかりとした着心地と、しなやかな柔らかさを兼ね備えた生地です。
このTシャツは、「丸編み機」によって編まれたTシャツです。
丸編み機は、生地を筒状に編み上げる旧式編み機です。
生産効率は低いのですが、低速でゆっくりと編み立られ、余分なテンションがかからずに、糸そのものの柔らかい風合いを生かすことができる希少な編み機です。
低速で編まれた生地は、温もりのある味わい深い表情に加え、しっかりとした着心地としなやかな柔らかさを兼ね備えています。
そして、丸編み機で編まれたTシャツの最大の特徴が、ボディの脇部に縫い目がない、いわゆる「丸胴」に仕上がる仕様です。
現在は量産を重視した高速の編み機が主流になり、丸編み機は時代遅れの技術とされつつあります。
しかし、丸編み機で編まれたTシャツには、最新の量産重視の高速編み機では出せない独特の風合いと時代を超えうるタフネスが宿っています。
